About the Subject:
Keeping with the demand of women students seeking the latest knowhow, the BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) was started in 2006, being three years degree course, to cater to the needs of the students in order to help them build up a bright career in the future, which is a need of the society at large.

About the Department:
The department offers following facilities to the students:

High-tech Computer Lab:
Our IT lab is well equipped with latest PCs (80+), Projectors, networking and internet facilities, to enable hands on experience of the concepts in IT.

Teaching Aids:
The department is equipped with Digital Camera, Web Camera, Mike, Laptop, LCD, OHP for better learning environment using various audio-visual aids.

Book Loan Facility & Departmental Library:
Text Books and Reference Books are made available to students as per requirement. Through the book bank facility, the books are made available for the entire semester to each of the student.
Apart from this the departmental library also maintains a collection of books and CDs on yearly basis useful for students. Various magazines like PC Quest, Dataquest, Digit, and Chip are subscribed and issued to the students regularly.

Internet facility is available to the students whereby they can get information that is needed to prepare their projects and reports. It also helps them to gather up to date information about the latest topics in their subjects.

Industrial Tie up:
Various reputed IT Companies including MICM Net solution Pvt. Ltd are approached for live Projects and current technologies in the IT field.

Guidance and Counseling Cell:
Guidance is provided to our students with regards to their career and social needs by well known IT & Education Consultant.

Placement Cell:

The college has formed a placement cell to help the students to seek suitable jobs. Many students have been placed in various IT companies like TCS, ONGC, M & A Associates, Marg software, etc. in the last cople of years.

Academic Events:
Seminars, Workshops and Training Programs on various aspects of IT, personality development, communication skills, and career opportunities are conducted on a regular basis.

Industrial Visits:
Industrial visits to various IT firms and institutes are another highlight of the department. A number of short visits covering organizations in and around the city and one long industrial visit to IT Hubs like Bangalore, Delhi, Pune and other far off places with prominent IT companies are organized.

Co-curricular and Extracurricular Activities:
Students are encouraged to take part in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities, competitions at college and inter-collegiate level like dance competition, website designing, power point presentations etc.

Value added Courses:
For further enrichment of students, value added courses like .Net, Java and Oracle have been started by the department. .Net, Java and oracle course is offered to the students of SYBCA and TYBCA whereas Functional English is a course provided by IGNOU, which is offered to the students of FYBCA. A Bridge course in mathematics is also provided for FYBCA students.

Student Evaluation System:
It helps the faculty and parents to improvise the academic and personal performance of the students.
A student report card is generated which displays following information
• Attendance Record as per subjects.
• Internal’s conducted with Marks secured.
• Remarks about the individual.
• Intimation for Parents Teachers Meeting.

About the Faculty:
The department has well qualified, experienced and distinguished teaching faculty.

Prof. R.R. Shah :
Mr. R.R. Shah has been associated with the institution for more than 30 years. During his tunure he has successfully delivered as the Vice-principal of the college and now continues to be the course co-coordinator for BCA-BMS. He is open for new ideas and an enthusiast learner. A friend, philosopher and guide are the roles he plays for the department. Positive attitude and always a catalyst for change are the assets of his personality.

Mrs. Preety Jain :
Mrs. Preety Jain is M.C.A and pursuing her M. Phil. From Y.C.M.O.U. She has 11 years of teaching experience at many institutions as visiting lecturer and guest lecturer for students of ( B.SC (IT) , B.C.A , M.C.A and I.C.W.A.I) courses of different universities. She is associated with this college from past 5 years. She is currently working as the In-charge of the B.C.A department.
She has won the 3rd prize at a National level seminar held by NCQM for Year 2008- 09, for her presentation on “YAHOO GROUP”. She also has participated in the “International leadership seminar series”, an online seminar series conducted by Dowling college of New York, University of Panamerica Mexico, Iona College New York and Shri M. D. Shah Mahila College India.
She works with the aim of overall growth of the department for which she is constantly in contact with the IT Experts, organizing various seminar and workshops for the students.

Mrs. Mansi Ghule:
Mrs. Manasi Ghule has completed her MCA from SNDT University. She has more than 5 years of experience as software professional. She has worked on various technologies in the software field including Java, Visual basic, Powerbuilder, COBOL, Natural/ADABAS.
She has started her teaching career with M.D.Shah mahila College as a BCA faculty member. She is associated with the college for the last 6 years.
Her areas of interest are Systems Analysis and Design and Management Information Systems.

Mrs. Himani Singh:
Mrs. Himani Singh has completed her B Level from DOEACC and M. Sc(CS) from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. With 8 years of experience she started Teaching at School level in 2000. She has taught to A Level and B Level students in JLJ Faridabad, for more than 2 years. Then for around 3 years she taught in UPTEC Computer consultancy limited, Noida and worked as Coordinator. From last 2.5 years she is associated with Shri M. D. Shah Mahila College. Areas of her core competency are Artificial Intelligence, Graphics, and Software Engineering.

Mr. Vikas Agrawal :
Mr. Vikas Agrawal has done his BE with Mumbai university and presently pursuing his MCA. He is a life member of Indian Society of technical Education (ISTE).
‘Online Internal Examination’ for BCA and BMS is his brain child. His simple ways of associating technology and how it could aid for daily life is very helpful. He titled as ‘EVEREADY’ of the department. The computerization of results and other clerical work is being guided and assisted by him.

Mrs. Asha Nanglia:
Mrs. Asha Nanglia has done her MA in English. She has successfully conducted seminars in reiki, Feng Shui and Astro Vasstu. She conducts classes for ceramic painting and cooking.
She has been associated with Durgadevi Saraf Junior College, N.M. College and Dalmia College.

USP of the Department:
Yahoo Groups
Yahoo groups have been started from November 2007 all the students of B.M.S and B.C.A of the college joined this group and are working in it. This is the easiest way for the group of people to communicate on the Internet. Most of the files are uploaded to the students by the lecturer so that the students are benefited through this. Also all the industrial visit details, seminar details, exam time table, class timetable etc are entered in this group so the students are updated.

Online and Viva Internal Examination
Additional changes are being brought to enable BCA department students excel in this growing field by starting Online Examinations and Viva-Voce to give the students an idea on revolution in examination patterns around the globe and to make their concepts clear.

Online Internal Examination
An “ONLINE INTERNAL EXAMINATION SYSTEM” was introduced and successfully carried in the Department. All faculty members prepared more than 150 multiple choice questions for their respective subject. Students at random had to answer 40 questions each. After submitting the last question, system automatically generates the result and Mark Sheets for individual student. It was a unique exciting experience for the students.

Viva Voce Internal Examination
Our Faculties prepared 50 short answer type questions in each of their subjects. Each question carries 2 marks. In a group of 5 students the viva was conducted by the Subject teacher.

Because of this exam students were forced to study the fundamentals of the subject and they enthusiastically participated in this activity.

NCQM (National Quality Management)
Our student won 3rd prize at National Level Competition held by an NCQM. Their project on general “Key Management System” won applaud as the project was presented by our 3rd year BCA and BMS students under the guidance of Dr. Deepa Sharma and Prof. R.R.Shah. This project was headed by our BMS faculty, Mrs. Vidyalakshmi.

International Seminar on Leadership Qualities

Being in association with the new learning world our college gave an opportunity to some of our students and teachers to participate in an online collaboration “International leadership seminar series 2010” from January 2010 to may 2010. The participating colleges were Dowling College New York, University of Panamerica Mexico, Iona College New York and Shri M. D. Shah Mahila College India.

In this series 16 lectures were posted from different faculties around the world on Blackboard. Lectures on women leading in global economy ported by Dr. Ranjana Mishra, Ethical Challenges for leaders by Mr. Robert Manley, Challenges of change in higher education by Dr. Deepa Sharma and Mrs. Geeta Patil was some amongst them.

This gave us an opportunity to interact with our fellow counterparts around the world. The comments posted could be read by all members. It was a wonderful interaction to improvise our understanding and analytical skills.

First Prize in Essay Writing to Pooja Nair, SYBCA at College level.

First Prize in Cartoon Making to Maria Ahmad, SYBCA at college level.

First and Second Prize in Collage making to Aakanksha Golatkar and Shreya Mahatre, TYBCA.

Consolation Prize in Poster making to Ambreen, SYBCA at College Level.
