The Students’ Council of Shri M. D. Shah Mahila College strives to organize interesting and innovative programmes to inspire and motivate students to develop their latent talent.
The year begins with the selection of Class Representatives, General Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Students’ Council. A Talent Hunt programme is conducted every year where students are encouraged to participate in literary events, Fine Arts, Theatre, Music and Drama. An Inaugural function is held where the winners of the Talent Hunt are awarded prizes and the prize winners exhibit their talent in front of a crowd of eager students, teachers and the Principal. A chief guest of high repute is invited to motivate students.
The SNDT University every year organizes a Youth Festival, namely the Yuva Mahotsav wherein students from all the colleges affiliated to the University participate in a wide array of competitions. Every year our students participate in the Yuva Mahotsav and win prizes too.
At the Yuva Mahotsav,the college won the literary Events Trophy in 2018 and 2019.In September 2019, we also bagged the Over All Runner Up Trophy at SNDT Yuva Mahotsav Grand Finale.
The Students’ Council also celebrates Teachers’ Day, Republic Day, Foundation Day of the college, Garba and organizes a grand Farewell for the third year students.
The much awaited event, the Annual Day of the college is usually a week-long celebration of talent and creativity.It is based on a theme every year.. An Exhibition titled Incredible India in 2014 showcased the culture and tradition of different states of India.Megh a multi lingual literary fest in 2016 had 28 magnetic and mesmerizing sessions where highly acclaimed artistes, awe inspiring personalities from society as well as from the fields of literature, theatre and music graced the festival. Manthan 2017 witnessed a panaorama of mesmerizing programmes that weaved the magic of folklore, prose and verse in Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi and English. An Intercollegiate competition titled Golden Feet and Golden Voice was organized at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the college in December 2018.To commemorate the 150 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ,a week long programme titled Celebrating the Mahatma will be organized in December 2019.
In tune with the mission of the college ‘to develop competent, confident and positively inclined individuals,’ the Students’ Council aspires to create numerous opportunities for students’ welfare and development.
