About the Cell
The scheme while making a contribution to the socio-economic progress of the country, would also provide opportunities to the students to understand and appreciate the problems of the community, awaken social consciousness and inculcate a sense of dignity of labour. Briefly expressed, NSS seeks to provide educational experience to students through participation in social service.

This aim is sought through giving students opportunities for

Personality Development of Students
Understand the community in which they work.
Understand themselves in relation to their community.

Identify the needs and problems of the community in the solution of which they can be involved.

Develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities.

Apply their educational findings in practical solution to individual and community problems.

Gain skill in mobilizing community participation.

Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
Practice national integration.

NSS Motto
Students participating in the scheme are inspired by its motto: “NOT ME BUT YOU”. The expression seeks to motivate students to place the intrest of others above that of their own. It calls for selfless service to others. It stands for Forgotting and surrendering the ‘Self’ and ‘Rendering selfless service to others’.

About the Programme Officers
Swarupa Apandkar- M.A. In Counselling Psychology. Over 11 years of work experience in Teaching in Degree college. Trained NSS Programme officer. Over 5 years of work experience in NSS.

Manoj Mishra - M. A. In History. (NET) Over 10 years of work experience in Teaching. Over 3 years of work experience in NSS.

Dr. Sudha Prabhu- M.Com, Phd, M.A.(Economics) Over 7 years of teaching experience. 1st year in NSS.

In our college we have 300 NSS volunteers

NCC Department

The NCC department of our college has created a history in Girls cycling expedition. For the first time in whole North Mumbai west zone our college has conducted the girls cycling expedition of 180 km from the college (Malad) to Yusuf Maharail Centre, Panvel Tata Village with 30 girl cadets

NCC Department has won a number of awards including Best College awards in Annual Training Camp winning 8 ( Eight) Prizes. In national level camps, our cadets have achieved the awards like best in drill, overall best, 1st in dance, 2nd in Singing etc.

This year our ANO Lt. Nazia Sayyed has been selected for ‘C’ certificate exam administrator officer from the NCC unit Colaba.

The glorious moment of our college was reached when 4 students of our college represented Maharashtra in New Delhi for the Republic Day Camp (RDC CAMP) and Lt. Nazia was detailed as an cultural officer central.
