About Subject:
The subject Child Care helps in getting an understanding and insight into the intricacies and glories of Child’s nature. It’s scientific, systematic and specialized area of study which concerns itself with the growth and development of the Child from conception to maturity. The study of Child-Care fulfils the purpose of identifying the various areas on which parents and teachers should focus attention in building a firm base during the childhood years. It helps teachers to suitably modify their teaching programs according to the levels of readiness of children, their interests, ability and intellect.

About Department:
The Child-care (Home-Economics) is a Combined Applied Component (C. Ap. C), offered to the Arts Students in combination with their major discipline – Psychology, Sociology, English, Economics & Gujrati in all three mediums i.e. English, Gujrati and Marathi Mediums.
The subject was started in 1988 with Gujrati medium and was further extended in 1989 in English medium and in 1998 in Marathi medium.
During of the three years of graduation, following syllabus is offered to the students, opting the CHILD CARE (Home Economics – C-App. C) subject.

The subjects in (BA I) are based on practical to the extent of 50%, where by students learn the nature and development of the child and conduct child-study to support their theoretical knowledge by practically observing and recording the development of the child and the adolescent.
The subjects in (BA II) offers practical insight to the students about effective and innovative teaching methods to pre-school children, which helps them to become pre-primary teachers and entrepreneurs in the field of child education in future.
The subjects in (BA III) help the students to understand the genetic and environmental implications on the normal development of the child. It also educates the students about the behavior problems and obstacles in attaining the milestones of the development and ways to overcome. It also teaches about the types of disabilities in children; it’s causes; education and rehabilitation of Special Children. Also, it informs about various child and youth development services. Students learn about marriage and family relation.
